Give Thanks
There are so many things I have to be thankful for this year; I don't know where to begin!

1. A NEW JOB! I have been searching for some time now and had become mighty discouraged lately. My field is fairly narrow and as I didn't want to relocate, it was difficult to find many openings. But on Monday I was offered a job with a great organization. It's kind of scary leaving after being in my current job for six and a half years, but change is good - right? Change is good.

2. My family. My parents are always there for me, no matter what. And I have some great aunts, uncles and cousins I'd like to see more often.

2. My friends. Old, new, cyber...they are always there to laugh with me, lament with me, set me straight when my thinkin' is stinkin'. I love you guys!

3. My church. It is amazing to me how much I have changed and grown in the last five or six years. I still have a long way to go but I know I am on the right track now!

4. My youth. I learn something new from them every time we're together. I couldn't ask for a greater group! Last night, we worked at a place called Manna on Main Street, making placemats for their Thanksgiving dinner today and Christmas cards for the elderly. I was so proud of all of them, taking time to serve others.

5. My cats. I know some of you non-animal people will think I'm nuts. But my three furries are always waiting for me when I get home. They sleep with me at night and comfort me when I am low. Norm especially! He is my sweet boy.

6. My home. I am so blessed to have found this apartment. It's in a great location and my landlords are wonderful. There is nothing about it that I would change!

7. My job. I'm thankful that I've been employed at the same place for as long as I have. I've met a lot of wonderful people there and learned a great deal.

8. My car. I'm happy I found a safe, reliable car that's comfortable for me. It was a leap of faith to trade in my old one and start anew but it was the right decision for me.

9. My health. Although I struggle with my back and my fibromyalgia, I know that I am so much better off than many. I just joined the Y this weekend in hopes of keeping it that way. Wish me luck!

10. My grandmother. Even though she is no longer with us, I am thankful for all the things she taught me about people and how you should treat them. I don't think I realized what an impact she had on my life until she was gone and I am sorry for that.

11. That I am thankful! It's so easy to see the glass as half empty and that's something that I have to work hard not to do. But I know that I am truly blessed in so many ways - and how can your gratitude NOT spill over then?

I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. Be thankful for what you do have in your life - don't focus on what you don't, even if just for today.
